You Are My Sunshine

Well I'm obviously off to a VERY slow start to 2012 considering this is my first post of the new year.

Excuse me as I hang my head in shame for just a moment.

Alright, moving on!  I've started working on some new invitation designs for my Etsy shop.  I would love to say that I have a great party to go with the designs, but unfortunately I haven't had the time or occasion to put something together, but some other very talented people have, so if you love the theme but just need a bit more inspiration on how to pull off the party, check out the pictures & links below!  But first...the invitations!

^ (L) invitation (R) insert front & back
 ^ Cupcake Toppers
^ Envelope Wraps (*envelopes not included)

I tried to create a design that could work for a multitude of events all using the same theme.  "You Are My Sunshine" works great as a birthday party or baby shower, but I even think it would be adorable for a bride or couple's wedding shower.  I'm just ever-so-slightly in love with chevron print (zig-zag) and couldn't help but pull it into this bright & fun design.  You can find all of the pieces pictured above in my Etsy shop!  Want your party to be yellow and pink or yellow and turquoise? Not a problem!  I can easily tweak the design to go with your party's theme.  Just contact me through my Etsy shop and I will make it happen :).

^ I'm completely in love with the backdrop and tablecloth of this yellow & grey baby shower from Bump Smitten. Click on the link to see more great pictures from the party. Gorgeous!

^ check out this great Sunshine party from Lorajean's Magazine!

^ love the grey striped straws with yellow streamers featured on heart, love, weddings. Perfect to sip fresh squeezed lemonade at your Sunshine shower!

Ahoy, It's a Boy party!

I love doing this, I really do.  It's so fun when you've spent weeks or months in the planning process and you finally get to see everything come into place just as you envisioned it (and sometimes even better!).  This party was extra special since it was in honor of a friend (and co-worker) who is having her first little bambino!  It was also such a treat to work with the hostesses of the party - Ashley & Christie.  They were the perfect "partners in crime" and jumped right on board with my vision (pun intended :)) and were so gracious to allow me creative freedom in many of the details.  We made a really great team and I hope there are future opportunities to work together again!  SO...without further ado, here are the pictures from the shower...

What are little boys made of?

Last night I got together with the two lovely ladies hosting the nautical shower that is coming up next weekend!  We did a quick 'mock up' of the table setup and reviewed the menu...and I can't wait to show you how it turns out!  While we were chatting it up, one of the girls mentioned that she has a shower coming up in August for a close friend and really wanted to go with the theme "What are little boys made of?".  So she searched and searched and was unable to find invitations to go with that theme.  I asked her to send the saying my way and I would work something up - even though it's too late for her shower.  This is what I drew up last night.  I would love to know your thoughts/feedback.  The mock-up shows the invitation, the address wraps and the templates for cupcake toppers.  If you have any other ideas/suggestions for themes that you've had a hard time finding, let me know!  I love the challenge of creating something new - especially if it hasn't been done before.

Also, I want to give a big shout-out to all of you who are following me on facebook - THANK YOU!  I appreciate all of the great feedback, sweet comments and just knowing that someone else out there thinks Frilly Milly 'ain't half bad' :).  Blessings to all of you!

Check back in later this week - I'll try to do a post on some 4th of July inspiration and ideas!

Nautical Invitations

I apologize for the rough pictures (I tend to be a night owl and artificial light doesn't necessarily produce the best images!), so I'll try to take some better pictures in the daylight.  These are the invitations I created for the upcoming nautical shower for baby Hoop.  I'm obsessed with envelope "wraps" - mostly because it allows you to use any color of envelope, no matter how dark, without looking tacky with a big white label on the front.  May take a tad bit more time to assemble, but I think the finished product makes it all worthwhile!

As I mentioned earlier, I'm working on a shower for a baby boy...and this one has a nautical theme which is just perfect for a baby shower in the summer! I'm working on the table design, but here are just a few pieces of inspiration - some that will be used, others that won't...and some that just inspire an idea beyond the idea. I just finished the invitations last night and have sent them off to the printer! Maybe you've done a nautical shower or birthday party before and have some great ideas - I'd love to hear them!
